Description/Job Summary

Brooks Instrument is an industry leader in flow measurement and flow control products for critical applications, and a division of ITW (A Fortune 200 Company) is seeking candidates for an Electrical Engineer.  This highly visible position will be based out of our facility in Fremont, CA. In addition to our California operations, Brooks maintains manufacturing locations in, Hungary, and Korea as well as our headquarters facility located in Hatfield, PA (Suburban Philadelphia).  The Company also maintains sales offices throughout the world.  Our products are used in laboratory and process applications in end markets such as: life sciences, chemicals, semiconductor, analytical instruments, nuclear, and solar cells.

Basic Function

The Electrical Engineering position will perform an assortment of complex engineering duties, such as develop analog and digital circuits in the Electrical Engineering group to support new product development and sustaining engineering.  This position will also actively participate in the Product Development Process and perform in a team environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Concept and prototype development.
  • Analog circuit design including power supply design (switching and linear) as well as circuits with discrete semiconductors.
  • Digital circuit design using microprocessors and associated peripheral devices in embedded systems.
  • Use computer aided design tools such as schematic capture, pcb layout, and simulation to achieve circuit design goals.
  • Direct printed circuit board layout personnel.
  • Trouble shooting and component selection.
  • Cost analysis and estimates for engineering efforts.
  • Engineering testing.
  • Coordination and technical guidance of technicians.
  • Design and testing for agency approvals.
  • Warranty reduction and product reliability efforts.
  • Provide work leadership and training to lower level professional and technical staff.
  • Maintain regular attendance and able to get along in a team environment.
  • Support Company continuous improvement initiative.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge , Skills and Abilities

  • Good communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Excellent qualitative and quantitative analysis skills.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Ability to write functional embedded software in high level language (C) desired.
  • Ability to follow all safety procedures.

 Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering and 3+ years of related work experience required.
  • MS-EE, PhD-EE preferred.
  • Knowledge in PC applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint as well as schematic capture, simulation and associated engineering tools required.
