Description/Job Summary

Brooks Instrument is an industry leader in flow measurement and flow control products for critical applications, and a division of ITW (A Fortune 200 Company) is seeking candidates for a Machinist.  This position will be based out of our facility in Trevose, PA (Suburban Philadelphia). In addition to our Trevose, PA facility, Brooks maintains manufacturing locations in, Hungary, and Korea as well as their headquarters in Hatfield, PA. The Company maintains sales offices throughout the world and its products are used in laboratory and process applications in end markets such as: life sciences, chemicals, semiconductor, analytical instruments, nuclear, and solar cells.

Basic Function

Perform standard and specialized welding procedures in addition to manual and CNC machining responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set-up, clamp, and perform welds (tack, heli-arc, electric arc and gas methods) on diversified materials such as aluminum, hastalloy, stainless steel, etc.            
  • Determine welding technique required for making the weld under a variety of conditions.
  • Set-up and operate manual and CNC equipment when required.
  • Ability to set-up and operate standard shop-type tools including, but not limited to:  drill presses, stampers, routers, grinders, sanders, presses and saws.
  • Ability to set up, operate and program Machine Tools (both standard and CNC) including, but not limited to:  lathes, mills, machining centers and grinders.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and other technical drawings.
  • Working knowledge and possession of standard personal shop tools.
  • Ability to keep accurate production, quality and maintenance records.
  • Support company continual improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to follow all safety procedures.

Tools and Equipment 

Familiarity with the following tools and machines: lathe, turn table, welder, welding torch, vice, wrenches, jig fixtures, stud welder, arbor press, Bridgeport, knee mill and CNC machine tools. 

Education and Experience 

  • High School graduate or equivalent required, trade school training preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience with the operation of CNC machines. Certification preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, layouts, and follow verbal instruction preferred.

The physical demands of kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, lifting (no more than approximately 40 lbs), fingering, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
